Every challenge I’ve faced has only strengthened my resolve to serve others with empathy and turn obstacles into opportunities for growth.
When I became a mother to my son Michael, my purpose and priorities completely changed. I wanted to provide a great life for him while having the flexibility to be highly involved. That’s what initially drew me to real estate. As he grew, it became clear that his path would be a little different. He was diagnosed on the autism spectrum at a young age. Suddenly, my world narrowed to a single focus: giving him every opportunity to thrive.
When Michael was two and a half, I made the difficult decision to put my own life on hold. As a single mom, it was all on me to get him the care he needed. But it was a sacrifice I didn’t hesitate to make. We picked up our lives in Arizona and moved back to Wisconsin temporarily so he could access intensive ABA therapy at Easterseals in Milwaukee.
For nearly a year, I sat behind a glass wall, watching him work with therapists for forty hours a week doing speech, physical, and behavioral therapy. It was exhausting, emotionally and financially. I rented out my place in Arizona and moved in with my parents to make it work. There were days I wondered if the sacrifices would pay off.
But slowly, we saw progress. Michael, who had been completely nonverbal, began to speak. Each new word was a victory. And little by little it completely changed his life, giving him the skills to communicate. Those years taught me resourcefulness, patience, and the importance of never giving up. He has inspired me in countless ways and amazes me every day.
When we returned to Arizona, I faced the daunting task of rebuilding my career. I had just gotten my real estate license before leaving, so it felt like starting over. But real estate offered something no other job could: flexibility. I could be there for Michael, attending therapies and school meetings, while also building a business that would provide for us both.
For 12 years I had been a hairstylist at a luxury salon and spa in Scottsdale. The customer service and relationship-building skills translated perfectly to real estate. I started with administrative work for a luxury REALTOR®, needing that stability for my son. It was a great way to learn about the transaction process, contracts, and all the things that can come up throughout the process. I went on to join a team and today am a Team Lead at SERHANT. It’s a brand with a trusted reputation I’m proud to be a part of.
My “why” has always been my son. Every deal, every late night, every challenge is about building a legacy and financial security for us both. The resourcefulness, empathy, and determination I gained as a mom, are the same strengths I bring to my clients. I know firsthand how much it means to have someone in your corner, which is why I am here to be a resource and advocate for my clients, ensuring they have everything they need to be successful.
That commitment to support others also extends to my community. The help we received was life-changing, so I enjoy supporting Autism Speaks and organizations that help single moms and children facing medical challenges. I believe in paying it forward and contributing however I can.
In my free time, I love being outdoors, taking long walks with my two Boston terriers, Enzo and Bruno, doing Pilates, and taking quick getaways to the beach or Mexico. I have built a supportive circle of friends through mom groups and book clubs and truly love the community I have here. Michael stays just as busy. He’s 14 now and loves art, science, music, pickleball, and golf.
